PROPERTY
The
Property Steering Committee and its three Subcommittees – Garden, Routine Maintenance,
and Special Projects – are responsible for the care and upkeep of all of St.
John’s buildings and grounds. All four
groups are made up of parishioner volunteers.
The
Garden Subcommittee has responsibility for upkeep on all the gardens on the
Church and Parish Hall grounds, including the Memorial Garden.
This Subcommittee also has responsibility for all general aesthetic issues
relating to the grounds. The Routine
Maintenance Subcommittee has responsibility for all upkeep on the buildings
(Church, Parish Hall, and Rectory) and grounds (excluding gardens).
The Special Projects Subcommittee handles non-routine property projects;
examples in the past year include replacing the playground equipment, replacing
the Church roof, and renovating the Undercroft bathroom.
The Property Steering Committee oversees the Property Budget, coordinates
the activities of the three Subcommittees, and acts as liaison with the Vestry
to keep the Vestry informed about upcoming property issues and funding needs.
Many
of the maintenance items, and some of the non-routine projects, are handled
by outside contractors under the supervision of the Subcommittees.
Other tasks are handled by the Subcommittee members themselves, usually
on an as needed basis. In addition, parishioner
volunteer workdays, which are open to the entire parish, are held twice a year
to take care of some of the maintenance and non-routine cleaning.
We
welcome any and all parishioners who would like to help out on any of these
Subcommittees or lend a hand on workdays. Don’t
be shy! Experience is not required. We’d love to have you join us!
