STEWARDSHIP

Many Paths, One Journey

Each of us is unique, yet we share our love for God and St. John’s. Our talents, our time and our treasure are also unique, but when they come together we create an abundant, diverse community that shares a very rich spiritual journey. These thoughts and inspirations have formed the cornerstone of St. John’s Stewardship Program.

October is traditionally designated as Stewardship Month, with events and programs designed to educate the parish about stewardship in preparation for the commitments we make (in our time, our talent, and our treasure/pledge) for the coming year.  The Stewardship Committee plans the fall event.  This includes development of the theme, preparation of the Stewardship Guide and Commitment Card, management of the event and the communication surrounding the event.

The Stewardship Committee would like to see Stewardship become a year-round discussion.  That is, with continuing education about the various ways and ministries that each of us can give of our gifts (at whatever level we choose) and participate in building our community at St. John’s.

The Committee comprises the rector, several Vestry members and parishioners.  All are welcome to serve in whatever capacity they choose.

 Fund Raiser

St. John’s holds one major fund raiser in the fall of every year.  The funds from this event are used for the parish’s operating budget.  However, the actual event changes every year.  In the past we have had a “Dogpatch Hoe Down”, a “Monster Garage Sale” and a silent auction.  The annual fund raiser is a great way for all – including children -- to participate in parish life.  All talents are needed and welcome.  Committees range from decorating, to food, invitations, signage, finance, set up, and clean up.  Whatever you’re talent or interest, there’s a place for you.
